Greek civilization since Homer and Hesiod has bequeathed us the concept of prudence, but it is Aristotle who developed a much deeper explanation of its meaning and significance, which, in addition, is of great importance for achieving happiness. Thus, prudence is a main and extremely important virtue, since it is from it that the emergence of Western culture could be seen.
This article aims to analyze the concept of prudence and attempts to expand its understanding towards cultures beyond the Greek. To do this, the founding perspective of Aristotle in his work Nicomachean Ethics and other philosophers and writers of later centuries will be kept in mind. Likewise, the great importance of this virtue for Christian doctrine and life will be shown.
