In the context of the mandatory social isolation decreed by the Peruvian government due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, and the promotion of scientific research as a public policy that had started a few years before, since the beginning of 2020, at the Faculty of Communication of a Peruvian university, the virtualization process was carried out by expert judgment of the data collection instruments used for the undergraduate theses. The objective of this article is to present the results of the systematization of said experience. The methodology used took into account the data collection carried out during the two academic semesters of that year, as well as the application of surveys to teachers and students who participated in the process. In conclusion, it was determined that systematizations like this help reflection and continuous improvement, so even if the virtualization of the validation process had to be implemented as an emergency measure, it should be taken as an opportunity for improvement, with possibilities of being applied and replicated in other contexts of higher education, including the eventual return to face-to-face education
